The wise pastor will use the committee as a sounding board to refine and massage major decisions before taking them to the congregation. But committees are not only recommenders, they are also enactors. Often, when I was a pastor, I would take an issue to a committee and say: “I really don’t care how you handle this, and I trust your wisdom
